San Pedro Bangko, Bamban, Tarlac from April 17 to June 1, 2018. 3G Gold Farm is owned and operated by Mr. WenceslaoTancungco, a Chinese businessman. The farm has a total land area of 18 hectares for hog production. The farm compromises 4 farrowing building, 2 nursery building, 2 breeding building, 6 grower-finisher (fattener) building, a marketing building, a laboratory rooms, a stock room for the medical supplies, a feed mill, and quarters for the laborers of the farm. Based on the data gather, thelitter indexand stillbirth were rated "Good", while mortality and litter size were rated "Average". This means that the farm needs to improve its breeding practices and management to increase litter size and decrease mortality rate to improve the income of the farm. The student trainee learned the different skills and management practices in the farm, namely: feeding, cleaning, artificial insemination, heat detection of sows or gilts, assisting the sow during farrowing, castration, tail docking, ear notching of piglets, and vaccination and medication program. | |
