505 0 _aGARCIA, JOSEPH A., JULY 2022. MOTHER TREE SELECTION OF NARRA (Pterocarpus indicus forma indicus Willd.) AT GEN. WILSON M. AMPER ECO PARK. Bachelor of Science m Forestry Major in Forest Resource Management. Pampanga State Agricultural University, PSAU, Magalang, Pampanga. Adviser: WINNIE R. PATIU, R.P.F The study was conducted at Gen. Wilson M. Amper Eco Park to select good mother trees of Narra (Pterocarpus indicus forma indicus Willd). A descriptive type of research that aims to identify, assess, and select mother trees of Narra. All Narra trees having pole to veteran diameter were all considered in the assessment. Narra with dominant to codominant height, standard diameter, and a mean score of 5 to 6 will be considered good mother trees. The basis used in this study was the DENR (DAO 2010-11). The result revealed that there are 1,028 narra in the area. The tallest measured is 24m and the shortest is 5m; the largest diameter measured is 90cm and the smallest is 10cm. It is revealed that the stem straightness of narra is in the "fair" category, stem forking is in the "fair" category, stem circularity is in the "fair" category, and the health assessment also falls in the "fair" category. Out of 1,028 narra only 20 are selected as good mother trees. The general phenotypic characteristic of the narra in the area is "fair". The narra trees are with one bend, fork emanating below 6m length, oblong circularity, and medium health damage. The 20 narra that fall in the category of "good" satisfies the height (15m and above) and diameter of breast height (standard diameter) requirements for mother tree.
