The earth suffers from many environmental problems which need to be tackled at the mdrvidual level, requinng individuals to develop that awareness which will guide them to become environmentally supportive. The study endeavored to determine the significant relationship between the level of awareness and practices among the residents Turu, Magalang, Pampanga on solid waste management. It employed descriptive correlanonal research design with 156 randomly sampled residents. Using the adopted standardized survey instrument surfacing the level of awareness of solid waste management of residents and their practices. Gathered data were analyzed and interpreted using descnptive and inferential statistics. The findings of the study showed that the residents are highly aware of the solid waste management. Statistical analysis revealed that the level of awareness of the residents and key informant are "highly aware" with a general mean of 3.43 for the residents and 3.78 for the key informant. The overall mean rating obtained only shows that they were aware of their responsibilty to minimize the generation of solid wastes in their households. Hence the null hypothesis 1s reyected, the residents have a fair knowledge on the effects of Solid waste management and its results. On the other hand, the level of practices of the residents and key informant are only practiced "always" with the mean of 3.52 for the respondents and 3.64 for the key informant. However, key informant has a higher mean than the residents. As results the coefficient of residents 1s 0 $26 showing that there is a highly significant correlation between level of awareness and skills m proper waste management. While in the primary informant interaction coefficient is 0 816 showing that there is a very strong correlation between awareness and practices. However, the correlaboa is not highly significant. | |
