505 0 _aSELF-INSTRUCTIONAL MODULE IN GENERAL PHYSICS 3 Sandra T. Gomez Abstract This study utilized the research design and development method to develop and validate a self-instructional module in General Physics (Lecture) for tertiary students. This commenced in response to limited self-instructional modules in General Physics for tertiary students. The module went through four phases: planning, designing/ developing, validation, and finalization phase. All lessons consisted of the following parts: title, overview, objective, pretest, content, and posttest. The evaluators and validators for the self-instructional module were chosen through purposive sampling. Using an evaluation instrument, the first ten experts evaluate the essential learning outcomes for topics to be included in the DE/ ODeL Module. Lawshe's content validity formula was used to determine the essential learning competencies included in the module. The second set of validators consists of ten validating the self-instructional module, using the evaluation rating sheet for distance education (DE) and open distance e-learning (ODeL) modules with the following criteria: content design/ format and pedagogical factors. The findings revealed that all validators agreed that the developed self-instructional module in General Physics matched all of the criteria listed in the validation tool, making the module valid and acceptable. Therefore the self-instructional module in General Physics can be used as instructional material by tertiary students, specifically BS Math students. Keywords: Self-instructional module, General Physics, BS Math, distance education, development, validation.
