Adviser: RUSSEL JOHN G. CLARETE, GE The study mainly focused on creating a map showing the suitable areas for optimal placement of cell towers in the municipality of Magalang, Pampanga. Various criteria for determining suitability were considered. In determining the locations of existing cell towers in the municipality, actual verification of cell towers through field survey was done using GPS software in verifying the available data of ceil towers. Based on the actual verification, additional existing cell towers were found in the municipality. Different maps were created in assessing the existing cell towers based on their proximity and coverage in the municipality. Based on the viewshed from cell towers, outer portions of the municipality have low probability of receiving signals from cell towers. Different maps were created for each suitable criteria in order to determine the areas in the municipality which are suitable for locating new cell towers. The criteria considered for suitable sites from existing guidelines and relevant studies were the land use, road network, bodies of water, slope, building density and distance to existing cell towers. Suitable and unsuitable areas were identified through overiay analysis of criteria. in developing the output of the study, multiple softwares such as ArcMap, Quantum Geographic Information System (QGIS), Google Earth and UTM Geo Map. The suitability map developed may help in determining and analyzing potential locations for new cell towers in the municipality. Potential sites can be identified considering the criteria determined in every barangay in the study area. Moreover, the maps developed in this study may also provide information in planning for establishment of new cell towers in the municipality.
