Gender has societal impacts on language. For years, differences in the language use of males and females have been the subject of debate. Both genders have differences in word selection. It is said that females are usually linguistically polite, and males are more direct when speaking. This study attempted to investigate the language features used by males and females through YouTube vloggers' utterances. There were five (5) types of vlogs selected in the study. They were travel vlogs, product reviews, reaction videos, cooking vlogs, and make-up tutorials. The theoretical framework of this study was focused on gender and conversational strategies proposed by Coates (2013). Specifically, the seven language features are minimal response, hedges, tag questions, questions, commands and directives, swearing and taboo language, and compliments. Moreover, the data has been transcribed following the Jefferson transcription system. The final result of this study was that males and females used language differently, yet they can be interchangeabl However, society's set standards have been deeply rooted, resulting in a generalizatic that there are roles that both males and females must follow.
