Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) Screening of Duhat (Syzgium Cumini) Bark Ethanol Extract for Identification of Bioactive Compound [manuscript] / Corine L. Miranda.

By: Contributor(s): Material type: TextTextPublication details: Magalang, Pampanga : Pampanga State Agricultural University, August 2022.Description: x, 59 leaves ; 28 cm. + 1 computer disc (4 3/4 in.)
Contents:
his study identified the bioactive compounds (alkaloids, glycosides, cardiac glycosides, avonoids, saponins, tannins, terpenoids, steroids, phytosteroids, carbohydrates, quinones, nd coumarins) of duhat bark ethanol extract (DBEE). It also determined the extraction nield, the solvent ideal for the DBEE, the solvent system used to develop the thin layer shromatography (TLC) plate for screening bioactive compounds, and DBEE's antioxidant property. Around 350g ground bark was immersed in 1,400m! of ethanol for 72 hours. The sample was filtered and was prepared for decoction using rotary evaporator at the Department of Science and Technology Region III Laboratory. Findings revealed that DBEE had lower extraction yield, it was confirmed to be soluble in dimethylsulphoxide, and in hexane-methanol with a ratio of 1:9 as solvent system. Results further showed the presence of bioactive compounds with TLC screening which were confirmed to have an antioxidant property through DPPH assay. Miran 'ne I, 2022.
