New challenges to Philippine Science education are calling for self-learning modules for face-to-face and distance learning delivery modalities. The focus of this paper is the development and validation of a 7E-based self-learning module in Science 9, Twelve subject matter experts selected through purposive sampling identified the essential learning competencies in Science 9. This expert validation provided the basis for the identification of lessons to be included in the self-learning module. Out of 39 learning competencies, 30 are "essential" based on the Lawshe Table of Minimum CVR Values. These competencies were the bases for the 24 lessons. Each lesson is divided into (a) Observe (elicit), (b) Ask (engage), (c) Gather Information (explore and explain), (d) Associate (elaborate), and (e) Communicate (evaluate and extend). Another set of seven validators selected through purposive sampling evaluated the (a) content, (b) design and format; and, (c) pedagogy of the developed self-learning module using a tool. Data was gathered and treated through descriptive statistics. Based on the findings, the module is composed of useful content. It also meets the standards of learning resources in terms of content, design and format and pedagogy in the first validation. Experts provided a positive review of the module. Thus, the 7E-based self-learning module in Science 9 meets the standards for learning resources. Keywords: 7Es, self-learning module, Science 9, development, validation, Lawshe.
