ABSTRACT EVALUATION OF THE ANTIOXIDANT Title : LEVELS OF THE PARTIAL FRACTIONS OF BALAKAT (Ziziphus talanai (Blanco) Merr.) Researcher : JAMAICA A. MACAPAGAL School : Pampanga State Agricultural University, PAC, Magalang, Pampanga Degree : Bachelor of Science in Biology Date Completed March 2018 Adviser Ruth T. Libag, MAEChem ee The Balakat (Ziziphus talanai) leaves were extracted with ethanol. The ethanol extract was fractioned with DCM, methanol and hexane using modified Kupchan partitioning method. The solvent fractioned were subjected to test the DPPH free radical scavenging activities. It was then read through spectrophotometer and was computed using the ascorbic acid equivalent antioxidant capacity (AEAC) using the formula y=mx+b. The DCM fraction has the highest AEAC with an amount of 11.188yg/ml, followed by methanol fraction with an amount of 6.97lpg/ml and hexane fraction with an amount of 6.143pg/ml. All of the partial isolates of Balakat (Ziziphus talanai) possess antioxidant potential against the stable radical DPPH. The hexane and methanol fractions have almost similar antioxidant capacity and OCM fraction has the highest antioxidant capacity.
