Contents:
This study generally aimed to identify and to make an inventory of sea cucumber present in Masinloc, Zambales and correlate its diversity and abundance with their existing ecological parameters per sampling station. A total of 16 Aspidochirotid species of sea cucumbers were identified in the study site with 14 species under Holothuriidae Family and 2 for Stichopodidae Family. These were collected from mangrove, seagrass and coral stations within the period of November to December. Results from the computation of diversity indices, indicates that species richness and diversity (Shannon-Weiner) were higher in coral station. Mangrove station stand out when it comes to dominance (Simpson's) and as for evenness, (Pielou' s) Seagrass station was the highest. The correlation of the diversity and abundance of sea cucumbers to ecological factors revealed that almost all of the water and soil quality parameters have a degree of correlation, and directly impacted their diversity and abundance.
