ABSTRACT Garcia, Stiphen Cris V., Guiang Lance C., Yco, Albert Jr. P. Department of Computer Studies and Automation and College of Engineering and Computer Studies, Pampanga State Agricultural University, Magalang, Pampanga. February 2023. "1OT BASED SOLAR POWERED IRRIGATION SYSTEM FOR VERTICAL FARMING" Adviser: Erl Xander G. Labung, MSIT This study is about an loT-based solar-powered irrigation system, an automatic irrigation system where the plant owners were given the opportunity to manage the irrigation to avoid overwatering and lessen their manual labor. The main objective of this study is to develop an irrigation system for the plant owners of Brgy. Sta. Maria so that the plant owners can maximize the space for farming and lessen manual labor with proper watering. Due to the restricted availability of land for farming, it is necessary to continue farming operations in order to expand the supply of food. The solution to these problems is vertical farming (VF). Vertical farming was found to make the most use of available space with a vertical architecture that allows for the cultivation of plants, animals, fungus, and other life forms for food, fuel, and fiber. The researcher used research design and research instruments to fulfill the study. The research instruments used were the internet and questionnaires. The researcher used the modified waterfall model for the implementation plan. As the researchers gathered data for the system, the overall result of the evaluation testing shows that the overall mean of the respondents from plant owners, administrators, and IT experts who strongly agreed that the system is useful to them was 4.65, 4.30, and 4.9. In this case, the researchers concluded that this study has successfully met the goals and objectives of the system. In particular, an loT-based solar-powered irrigation system for vertical farming reduces manual labor in watering the plants, irrigates the plants automatically, and maximizes the space available for farming. Making them grow crops in a small space and avoiding overwatering.
