Mendoza, MDC Title Rescarcher School Degree Date Completed Adviser The study aimed to identify the motivations of mothers from Barangay Bundagul, Mabalacat City, Pampanga on using Facebook in postpartum depression and its influence on their knowledge and attitude. Specifically, the respondents' socio-demographic profile, the frequency of Facebook utilization, motivation on Facebook use, their knowledge and attitude regarding PPD. The relationship between frequency of Facebook use to their knowledge and attitude of PPD, and their motivation on Facebook use regarding PPD versus knowledge and attitude of PPD were determined. This was a quantitative research wherein a survey questionnaire was disseminated to 252 mothers in Barangay Bundagul. Data was analyzed using Frequency Distribution Table, mean and Pearson Chi-square. Findings revealed that most of the respondents are from ages 28-37 years old, were married and have one to three children, are high school graduates and earning below 10, 000 pesos a month. Most of the respondents are sometimes using Facebook regarding PPD. With regards to their motivations on using Facebook, the respondents sometimes use Facebook for entertainment, personal utility, information seeking, convenience and altruism regarding PPD. Moreover, they are knowledgeable about the risk factors and symptoms of PPD. They also have a positive attitude toward the vulnerability, treatment and diagnosis, causes and effects of PPD. Furthermore, there is a highly significant relationship between the respondents' frequency of Facebook utilization and their knowledge and attitude towards PPD; motivation of Facebook use and knowledge and attitude towards PPD. As such, it is recommended for the locality to intensify communication campaigns to increase PPD awareness.
