There is a rising demand for charcoal production in the Philippines. However. this rising usage of charcoal may contribute to the already intense worldwide deforestation and devegetation. The Barangay Ayala in Magalang, Pampanga, Philippines has a history of generating charcoal. The residents and barangay officials claim that there are numerous charcoal makers in their barangay. The charcoal production comes from their farms but sometimes in the Livestock and Orchard in Mt. Arayat. Yet, cutting tress is prohibited in Mount Arayat. This study aims to determine the significant relationship between the age and knowledge among the residents of Ayala on the environmental impacts of charcoal production; determine their activeness in charcoal production; determine their knowledge about the prohibition on cutting trees and charcoal making in Mt. Arayat; determine their awareness of the environmental consequences of charcoal production. It employs the descriptive and correlational research design with 217 randomly sampled residents using the two sets of questionnaires. The gathered data are analyzed and interpreted using descriptive statistics. The findings of the study show that the residents are conscious of the environmental consequences and precisely active in charcoal production. The majority of charcoal makers are elderly while the youths are taught charcoal making. Based on the result of the survey, Barangay Ayala has a large buying population of charcoal. This research is helpful for the residents of Barangay Ayala and their neighboring municipalities to develop stewardship toward nature and be conscious of the dangerous effects of cutting trees in Mount Arayat. It is also helpful for forestry students and individuals with a forester license.
