The objective of the present study was to evaluate the interactive effects of Probio-5 and antibiotics on the growth performance and excreta quality of broilers (Cobb 500). A total of 450-day old unsexed Cobb 500 chicks that were obtained from the local hatchery was used in the study and raised in an open-sided, conventional type of housing that was oriented in an east-west direction. The birds were divided into nine (9) treatment groups during the brooding period and were allocated into respective treatment replications after seven (7) days. Two (2) different types of probiotics and antibiotics were used in the study, Probio-5 and Brand-X as probiotics, while Cefastin and Camperamycetin as antibiotics. Treatments were manually mixed with broiler feeds and were fed on an ad libitum basis. The results of the study showed that the supplementation of probiotics, antibiotics, and their combination did not affect (P.0.05) the total body weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion efficiency of broilers. On the other hand, it was revealed that adding probiotics or antibiotics alone in the broiler's diet can significantly (P<0.05) reduce the uric acid present in the excreta of the broilers that indicates a better kidney function as compared when treatments were given simultaneously.
