<br/><br/>This study generally aimed to determine the performance of male and female respondents in using possessive and contractive apostrophes. Specifically, it sought to establish the profile of the respondents in terms of sex; describe the performance of the male respondents in using possessive and contractive apostrophes; describe the performance of the female respondents in using possessive and contractive apostrophes; and determine whether there is significant difference between the performance of male and female respondents in using possessive and contractive apostrophes.     Total enumeration of the students was used for the sampling. The instruments were administered to the Grade Three students of San Agustin Elementary School and the test took place for just a day. The test questionnaires were composed of three partsprofile, and answering of the correct contractive and possessive apostrophes. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, and T-test independent means.     The study revealed that male respondents obtained a mean score of 3.96 with a descriptive rating of poor in possessive apostrophes and in contractive apostrophe. The male respondents obtained a mean score of 5.72 with a descriptive rating of fair.     On the other hand, female respondents obtained a mean score of 6.97 in possessive apostrophe and 7.66 in contractive with a descriptive rating of good. Their performance in the apostrophes both got a descriptive rating of good.
