ABSTRACT SHEENA P. MANALASTAS, Department of Geodetic Engineering, College of Engineering and Computer Studies, Pampanga State Agricultural University, May 2023, "ASSESSMENT OF LAND OWNERSHIP AND BOUNDARY DISPUTE AND SETTLEMENT IN MAGALANG, PAMPANGA". Adviser: JOSEPH FROILANV. ALFORTE, GE This qualitative research study conducted an assessment of land ownership and boundary dispute and settlement in Magalang, Pampanga. Specifically, this study aimed to determine the causes of land ownership and boundary disputes, impacts or effects and consequences of land ownership and boundary disputes, the methods used to reach land ownership and boundary dispute settlement, and the expectation of the participants about the resurfacing of land ownership and boundary disputes. Qualitative-exploratory research design was utilized in this study. The researcher employed a narrative research format through thematic analysis and an interview guide (N=19) was used for the participants of the study who were: ten (10) disputants from different barangays in Magalang, Pampanga; five (5) licensed private Geodetic Engineers, and; four (4) government officials. Purposive and convenience sampling techniques were used to select them. The study utilized a thematic analysis in interpreting the findings of the study. Results indicate that land disputes are anchored with conflicting claims and they affect the disputants negatively. Moreover, land dispute settlement involves significant key persons and offices while resurfacing of land dispute is uncommon if already settled. Thus, it is necessary to always check the document evidence and involve and hire licensed GEs to survey the property. Additionally, the barangay offices are encouraged to learn more about resolving land disputes.
