ABSTRACT Garcia, Sherilyn A. May 2023. KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE, AND PRACTICES OF RICE FARMERS IN BARANGAY SAN ILDEFONSO, MAGALANG, PAMPANGA TOWARDS INORGANIC FERTILIZER AND ITS ECOLOGICAL CONSEQUENCES VIS-À-VIS SOIL ASSESSMENT. Pampanga State Agricultural University. Adviser: Sancho A. Garcia Jr., M.A.N. Inorganic fertilizer is consisting of mineral-based nutrients manufactured for immediate application to crops. Due to the easily available nutrients and ease of use, inorganie fertilizer is most frequently used by Filipino farmers to increase crop productivity. Excessive use of inorganic fertilizers has resulted in significant environmental issues and biodiversity loss. This study assessed rice famers' knowledge, attitude, and practices towards inorganic fertilizer. A total of 294 rice farmers in Barangay San Ildefonso served as the respondents in this study. The study employed a descriptive research design. The data were analyzed using frequency and percent distribution, median, chi-square, Pearson's r, and Cramer's V. The findings revealed, majority of the respondents are male, aged between 41 to 60 years old and half of them are high school graduate. In relation to the knowledge and attitude of the respondents the p-value is 0.000, the result shows that knowledge depends on the attitude of the respondents towards inorganic fertilize. Furthermore, knowledge of the respondents towards inorganic fertilizer affects their practices towards inorganic fertilizer with a p-value of 0.000. In addition, atitude and practices are related with each other with a p-value of 0.000 which indicates that the attitude of the respondents is dependent on their practices towards inorganic fertilizer. In soil assesment, soil samples were taken by the DA, inorganic fertilizer can make the soil pH and organic matter low due to the continuous application of inorganic fertilizer. On the contrary, phosphorus and potassium level of the soil are high because of inorganic fertilizer.
