ABSTRACT CABRERA, SHAIRRA ANN S., JULY 2022. DISASTER AWARENES OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLE IN BARANGAY MARUGLU, CAPAS, TARLAC IN REGARDS TO TYPHOON AND LANDSLIDE. Bachelor of Science in Forestry Major in Forest Resource Management. Pampanga State Agricultural University, Magalang, Pampanga. Adviser: ROY JOVEN R. AMATUS Barangay Maruglu in Capas, Tarlac homes about 400 Aeta Houscholds. The Barangay has low susceptibility to flooding in most areas but moderate to high susceptibility in areas near major rivers and streams. This study aims to assess the level of knowledge and awareness of the Aeta household in Barangay Maruglu, Capas Tarlac with the intention to provide a disaster-resistant indigenous community. A total of 113 household respondents were interviewed, using Snowball sampling. The result of the survey revealed that the Aeta households have a high level of knowledge and awareness regarding typhoons and landslides, but they are not highly prepared if ever a typhoon or landslide occurs. The low level of preparedness of this indigenous community was associated to financial resources and relative inaccessibility of the area. It was recommended to conduct a seminar about Disaster Preparedness Program, providing emergency assistance, providing temporary electricity such as solar panels, and having other means of communication to gather information for an upcoming disaster like typhoon and landslide.
