ABSTRACT BRIONES, DEVI GIA M., Department of Resource Engineering and Agricultural Mechanization, College of Engineering and Computer Studies, Pampanga State Agricultural University, Magalang, Pampanga. August 2022. "Fabrication and Evaluation of Urban Vertical Farming in Different Growing Media" Adviser: ENGR. ALAN N. MORALES The study was conducted in Capas, Tarlac. This study aimed to fabricate and evaluate urban vertical farming using different growing media. This study was conducted under urban area at Capas, Tarlac, from April to June 2022. Specifically, this study aimed to determine the growth and yield performance of Romaine and Lollo Bionda using three different growing media (coco peat, carbonized rice hull, combination of both) and to determine the significant difference in the growth and yield of Romaine and Lollo Bionda using three different growing media (coco peat, carbonized rice hull, combination of both). Also to assess the economic viability of urban vertical farming. Comparative analysis and Randomized Complete Block Design (RCRD) (two factor experiments) and Multiple Comparison among treatment, least significant difference test were used as a statistical method in data analysis. The results showed that Romaine with carbonized rice hull was the variety with best growth performance in terms of height with the mean final height of 23.85cm and a total yield of 38.67g while Lollo Bionda with coco peat provided an average of 18.17cm mean final height was considered as the variety with a higher yield production with a mean total yield of 40g. The payback period of the system was 4.08 years or 1490.22 days with a break even volume of 37.74 kilograms. The recirculating hydroponic rack and greenhouse for urban vertical farm has an initial cost of P 21,815.00 with an annua.
