ABSTRACT TITLE : POVERTY INCIDENCE AND MEASURES ADOPTED IN SELECTED BARANGAYS OF MEXICO PAMPANGA TO ALLEVIATE RICE FARMER'S CONDITION AUTHOR ADVISER SCHOOL : MARJORIE VIE M. MASANQUE : ROY S. KEMPIS, M.A.D.E. : PAMPANGA STATE AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY DEGREE : BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS YEAR COMPLETED : JUNE 2020 The general objective of this study was to determine the poverty situation of the rice farmers in the selected barangays in Mexico, Pampanga namely Barangay Tangle, Barangay Cawayan and Barangay Buenavista. Data were collected through survey with 54 respondents. 1l or 20% respondents were from Barangay Tangle, 27 or 50% were from Cawayan, and 16 or 13% were from Buenavista. This study revealed the actual situation of the rice farmers where the study conducted in Mexico, Pampanga. The study used descriptive method. Most respondents were at the age bracket of 40-59 years old with a total of 52% and married. Majority of them were male, and the highest educational attainment were high school level. In terms of household size, 54% or 29 respondents had 4-6 family member and 39 respondents were extended family. Most of the respondents worked as farmer for 30-49 years and 28 respondents were fortunate to have their own land to cultivate. Majority of them do not own any machinery and were renting. 30 respondents were lending their capital to their relatives and majority of them were cultivating a land size of 2 hectares. As for their source of irigation water 46 respondents were using water pump. All respondents preferred a certified, hybrid seed, used transplanting as their method of crop establishment and use inorganic fertilizer. They are dependent on insecticides, molluscicides and rodenticides. Majority of them were using hired labor. In terms of the marketing their produce, most respondents were using a middle man. As for the production, an average cost of production in 1 hectare rice farm were amounting to 40,991.00 and 2,378.00 were for its marketing cost. A total cost of 43, 369.00. A projected harvest in one- hectare farm in kg was 3,5 13 with an average price of 16.00. A farmer with one hectare land hada gross income amounting 56, 208.00 and had a net income of 12,839.00.
