This study determined the level of awareness on canine heartworm infection (CHI) among dog owner residents of Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU). Data on sociodemographic profile of dog owners, level of awareness on CHI, and management practices were gathered, organized using frequency distribution table, and edited using Microsoft Word® and Microsoft Excel®. Pearson correlation test determined correlation between dog owners' profiles and their level of awareness on CHI. Among the 35 respondents, 23 (66%) were females and 12 (34%) were males, 8 (23%) with age range of 36 to 40 years old, 15 (43%) were unemployed, 25 (71%) were college graduates, 25 (71%) had income ranges between 10,001 to 30,000, 23 (66%) were residents of PSAU for more than six years, 19 (54%) were dog owners for six or more years, and 12 (43%) had Ito 2 pet dog/s. Analysis of the test scores on the respondents' level of awareness revealed, 11.46% were highly aware, 22.85% were moderately aware, and 65.71% were poorly aware of CHI. Overall, respondents were poorly aware of CHI (mean score of 4.8). Pearson correlation test revealed that PSAU residents' monthly income and the number of years of being a dog owner had a significant association with their level of awareness on CHI. As regards management practices of the respondents, 21 (60%) visited a veterinary clinic for a dog health checkup, 28 (80%) vaccinated their pets against diseases, 22 (63%) allowed their dogs to stay outside every night, 24 (69%) did not allow their pets to roam freely, and 29 (83%) did not avail heartworm prevention from a veterinary clinic. The pearson correlation test revealed no strong relationship between the management practices of dog owners and their level of awareness on CHI. De Leon, Alfredo Jr. P. 2022.
