Garcia The paper explored the dominant diagnostic, prognostic and motivational frames from the documentaries about abortion in the Philippines. In determimang this, a oct of criteria was developed in choosing the abortion documentaries posted m YouTube. Through coding sheets and thematic analysis, the frames and themes were wdentifted. The dominant diagnostic frames that emerged from the documentanes are the framing of unsafe and illegal abortion as a way to termmate unplanned, unantendod, unwanted pregnancies; framing of unsafe abortion as a health issue; framing of aborvon as a moral issue; and lastly, the framing of abortion as a socioeconomic tssue. The dominant prognostic frames observed from the documentanes are the framans of abstinence from premarital sexual activity as a solution to prevent unplanned. unwanted, and unintended pregnancies that could lead to unsafe abortion; framing of abortioa legalization as a solution to unsafe abortion; framing of abortion de-stigmasization as a solution for women to be free from shame, discrimination, and derogatory remarks, and lastly, the framing of adequate education on sex, use of contraceptives, and family planning as a solution to prevent unplanned, unintended, and unwanted pregnancies that can passibly lead to unsafe abortion. The dominant motivational frames distinguished from the examined documentanes are the framing of the need to address abortion as a health issue to motivate the viewers to be aware on the effects of the issue and to resolve the problem in an unbiased manner, and the need to recognize young women with low socioeconomic status as suscepuble to unsafe abortion-related consequence. The study recommends to the media producers to continue tackling abortion in different point of views to present a balance viewpoints and capture the vanous reasons why women obtain abortion.
