Behavioral And Cytoarchitechtural Amelioration Effects Of Ethanolic Leaf Extract Of Ziziphus Talanai (Blanco) Merr) Against Msg-Induced Neurological Aberrations In Mus Musculus L [manuscript] / Glen S.NOLASCO.

By: Contributor(s): Material type: TextTextPublication details: Magalang, Pampanga : Pampanga State Agricultural University, July 2022.Description: xiv, 96 leaves ; 28 cm. + 1 computer disc (4 3/4 in.)
Contents:
The behavioral and cytoarchitectural effects of ethanol leaf extract of Z. talanai on Mus Musculus were investigated. The weight of mice brains and histological alteration in the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, and hippocampal were noted. All mice treated with Z. talanai extracts (Treatments 3, 5, 7, 8, 11, and 13) passed the behavioral test, while the mice without balakat treatments (T-, T+, T2, T4, T6, T9, T10, and T12) had one out of two mice failed the test. Two out of three mice treated with MSG having 9000mg/kg failed the test. There is no significant differences on the weight of the brains. Nevertheless, there is a slight reduction in the weight of brains on mice treated with MSG solution (positive control). The histopathological observation confirmed that there is an ameliorative effect in the mice treated with Z. talanai extract against monosodium glutamate-induced neurological aberrations. In addition, the abberations were consistently observed in the mice treated with MSG both 3mg/kg and 9000mg/kg. Aberrations that were observed in the specimens include, vacuolation, necrosis, hemorrhage, congestion, and swollen cells. The results that MSG has excitatory effects in the brain of the mice which lead to calcium influx in the neurons that lead to apotosis. Keywords: Amelioration, Balakat, Behavorial, Cytoarchi tecture, Histopathology, Neuroprotective.
