Bovine disease mapping of Mindoro Island: A preliminary risk identification for Tamaraw (Bubalus mindorensis) conservation [manuscript] / Ruth Abigail Q. Salas.

This Study was conducted to identify the geographical distribution of bovine diseases in Mindoro Island which will serve as preliminary risk identification for Tamaraw (Bubalus mindorensis) conservation. Data collected from local and municipal records of Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, Provincial Veterinary Office, and Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory IV-B from 2010 to 2021 were geo-tagged and inputted in Quantum Geographic Information System (QGIS). A total of six confirmed diseases were identified. These include one (1) case of Surra in Barangay Manoot, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, two (2) cases of Pink Eye in Tamaraw Genepool Farm, Barangay Manoot, Rizal and Barangay Mapaya, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, one (1) case of Hemorrhagic Septicemia in Barangay Murtha, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, one (1) case of Thelaziasis in Tamaraw Genepool Farm, Barangay Manoot, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, one (1) case of Dictyocaulosis in Animal Breeding Station, Barangay Murtha, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro and forty (40) cases of Fasciolosis are widely distributed in the Island of Mindoro starting from Occidental Mindoro State College (OMSC), Barangay Murtha, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro to Municipality of San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro.
