ROOT, SHOOT GROWTH AND VIELD RESPONs OF MUNGBEAN (Vigna radiata 1.) VARIN ns RELATIVE TO SOIL AND FOLIAR APPLikg POTASSIUM Sascorcher ; LOWELL DULLAS REBILLACO Segre : DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES stage : CROP SCIENCE 'tear Completed : 2021 adver : VIRGILIO DM. GONZALES, Ph.D. A three-factor factorial pot experiment inside the greenhouse using lahar sediments was. conducted to evaluate the effects of different levels of soil applied potassium (K) and | Sehuar K fertilizer applied at different growth stages in 2 mungbean varieties from May to tungest, 2021 at Brgy. Turu, Magalang, Pampanga. The treatments were laid-out following tse Completely Randomized Design (CRD) using three replications for each treatment. Tine pat experiment was comprised of two varieties of mungbean as Factor A (V; - PSB .'Mig7 Farmers' Check Variety), V2NSIC Mg14). Factor B are the levels of soil applied K 'RK: ~ Control, Ko - 22.5kg K2O/ha RR, Kg - 45.0kg K2O/ha RR, and Ky - 67.5kg &2O'ba RR), while Factor C are the Timing of Foliar K application (Fi - Control, F2 - 'egetative, F;Onset of flowering, and r4Pod-filling). All gathered data were tabulated suai analyzed using Statistical Tool for Agricultural Research (STAR) through the Analysis af Wanance (ANOVA). Results of the study revealed that NSIC Mg 14 (V2) produced early flowers and tegher number of pods per plant while the farmers' variety (V1) dominated most of the parameters such as leaf dry mass, K uptake, length of pods, number of seeds per pod, 100seed weight, and shelling percentage. Significant differences were observed in levels of soil applied K. Higher amount of &. comcensration, longer pods, and more number of seeds per pods were attained even wetiawan ube aid of soil applied K while the 67.5kg KoO/ha RR (Ka) was the most effective wa producing early flower in mungbeans. Following the recommended rate of 45.0kg K~Ovha (K3) produced taller plants at flowering and harvest at around 11.69% and 6.08%, respectively. The RR of soil applied K (Ks) produced heavier leaf and pods dry mass as well as the higher total dry matter. A higher K uptake of 6.12% and an increase in seed vield of 6.54% over the control were also recorded under the RR of 45.0kg K2O/ha RR (K3).
