Monitoring the health of pets is one of the challenges that veterinarians face every day. With the aid of technology, health monitoring of pets helps in resolving the issues and brings convenience not only to veterinarians but to owners as well. This study focuses on the development of a smart vest and cage prototypes (Rasel-1) that monitor the vital signs of small-sized dogs using sensor module and mobile application. Actual clinical trials on heart rate, temperature and blood pressure determination was performed and the results were compared with the developed system. Results show that the accuracy of the prototype was 98.74% on temperature, 93.60% on heart rate and 97.70% on blood pressure. Also, there is very strong linear relationship on the readings of heart rate and blood pressure. Hence, there is a moderately strong linear relationship on the readings of temperature. The proposed health monitoring device is expected to aid veterinarians and clinicians to bring comfort to the animals, convenience to owners and easy access to records for the animal patient.
