The farm practice was conducted to prepare the students with hands on experience and to acquire more knowledge and skills needed in swine production. The farm practice was conducted from April 18 to May 32, 2018 at the 3G Gold Farm, Barangay San Pedro Bangko, Bamban, Tarlac. In this farm practice, the student trainee learned some of the management practices performed in the farm such as: teeth clipping, tail docking, ear notching, castration, semen collection from the boar, processing the semen with extender, evaluating the semen, artificial insemination, vaccination and medications for the hogs and etc. The student trainee worked in the farm like how the laborers work to know all the process and management practices inside the farm and how the farm operates. At the time of training, average litter size at birth is 11.08 piglets, average birth weight is 1.53 kg, average weaning weight is 8.77 kg., average weaning day is 29 days, weaning percentage is 92.55%, percentage mortality is 13.17%, farrowing index is 2.34, average gestation period is 115.55 days, average post weaning estrus is 6.1 days, farrowing interval is 155.96 days, average litter size at weaning is 10.25 piglets, and lost days is 5.78 days.
