The farm practice was conducted at Boston Ridge Farm, Sitio Mano Brgy. Anupul, Bamban, Tarlac from April 24, 2019 to June 2, 2019. The farm practice is meant to give student trainees a sense of experience on how a commercial hog farm is managed. Some of these hands-on experiences were assistance during farrowing, caring the navel cord, teeth clipping, ear notching. The student was assigned to feed and bathed the pigs and vaccination. Also, the student performed semen collection, riding at the back of the sow, processing semen and heat detection in breeding unit. At the time of training, average litter size at birth is 11.2 piglets, average number of still birth is o.02, average number of mummified is 0.01, average birth weight is 1.60 kg., average weaning weight is 7.7 kg, average weaning day is 28 days, weaning percentage is 94.64%, percentage mortality is 5.80%, farrowing index is 2.37, average gestation period is 115.05 days, average post weaning estrus is 7.71 days, farrowing interval is 154.2 days, average litter size at weaning is 10.6 piglets, and lost days is 5.25 days.
