This study was conducted at the Department of Resource Engineering and Agricultural Mechanization, Pampanga State Agricultural University, Magalang, Pampanga to evaluate the performance of biomass briquette stove. It aimed to determine the thermal efficiency, fuel consumption rate, and carbon deposit of the design stove as well as the economic viability of the stove. The study was conducted in March 2020. Results show that the igniting time of the biomass briquette stove ranged from 1.2 to 2.15 minutes; boiling time was ranged from 4.98 to 10.36 minutes. The biomass briquette stove can operate a shorter time which has a mean value of 14.71 minutes. The thermal efficiency of the biomass briquette stove ranged from 42.3% to 65.06%. Biomass briquette stove used 33.36 grams while the conventional stove used 48.74 grams in fuel consumption. Biomass briquette stove consumed less fuel than the conventional. In terms of the percentage char produced, biomass briquette stove and the conventional stove were just comparable with a mean value of 4.59 and 4.02% which denotes that 4.59% and 4.02% of the fuel used becomes char at the end of the operation. Based on the result of the study the following are concluded: The design of the biomass briquette stove was fabricated utilizing locally available materials. Cooking is sustained in the biomass briquette stove using cone inside and having the air passage ways fully opened as it operates for a short time compared to the conventional stove. The highest thermal efficiency of the biomass briquette stove was attained with the treatment using cone inside and having the air passageways fully opened. It uses low cost of fuel, thus it could benefit the users by having more savings. It is convenient to operate. Almost no smoke can be observed during cooking. The machine is easy to fuel since it has a fuel feeder. The total cost of fabricating the biomass briquette stove was Php 1,036.00 which includes labor and materials. The stove can be paid off after 0.3 years or 108 days.
