The study analyzed the politeness strategies of college students in making verbal requests. It described the respondents' profile in terms of sex and ethnolinguistic group; the types of politeness strategies they use; the relationship between their ethnolinguistic group and politeness strategies; and the relationship between their sex and politeness strategies. Using random sampling method, the researcher came up with 15 respondents who were divided into three ethnolinguistic group consisted of five respondents who were given a two-part questionnaire. The first part was the profile in terms of sex and ethnolinguistic group. To determine the politeness strategies, the second part was an interview wherein they were given eight request situations. The data were analyzed using frequency and distribution, mean and chi-square. The study revealed that there is no significant relationship between the males' and females' politeness strategies in making requests. Likewise, there is no significant relationship between the respondents' politeness strategies and their ethnolinguistic group.
