General note PROJECT SOLID WASTE EDUCATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION 3 Abstract Solid waste management is a critical issue that has gained widespread attention worldwide due to its environmental impact. In particular, schools generate a significant amount of waste and the lack of appropriate waste management systems can adversely affect the health and well-being of students, staff, and the environment. Therefore, this study designed a cluster-based solid waste management program for elementary schools to effectively manage waste and promote environmental sustainability. The study employed a descriptive-survey method including a survey and interviews with the teachers as well as waste audits to assess the effectiveness of the program. It unveiled that teachers were knowledgeable of solid waste management and manifested a positive attitude towards it, however, they had a low level of practice. Therefore, Project SWEEP (Solid Waste Education and Environmental Protection) is designed through these collective perceptions and practices based on the findings within Cluster 3 in Mabalacat South. The program includes a comprehensive waste segregation system, composting and recycling initiatives, and awareness-raising campaigns in the promotion of a sustainable environment. Keywords: solid waste management, elementary schools, cluster-based program, waste segregation, composting, recycling, sustainability, waste audit, Project SWEEP.
