College of Engineering and Computer Studies, Pampanga State Agricultural University, June 2023, "ANALYSIS OF SHORELINE CHANGES IN THE COASTS OF LIMAY, BATAAN, PHILIPPINES: AN APPLICATION OF DIGITAL SHORELINE ANALYSIS SYSTEM (DSAS)." The analysis of shoreline variation and forecasting is crucial to the management of coastal zones in various contexts like sea level rise, melting of ice caps, and majorly sea level rise. Globally, twO methods are employed by coastal researchers. It is either physically based models or GIS remote sensing. The study focused on the Analysis of Shoreline Changes in the coasts of Limay, Bataan, with the application of the Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) which aimed to provide an analysis of the positions of Limay's shorelines from the year 2014 to 2023. The study utilized the software tool created by USGS known as Digital Shoreline Analysis System in determining the rate of change every year with the unit of m/y (meters per year). The study concluded that remote sensing and GIS technology integration are very helpful for studies of shoreline change employing multispectral pictures, notably Landsat 8 OLI. Digital Shoreline Analysis System proved itself to be a reliable and convenient method of detecting shoreline changes through remote sensing techniques within this study. The study shows that the average erosion rate is -2.37 m/year and the average accretional rate is 3.57 m/year. The overall mean shoreline rate is 1.46 m/year for the Limay coast. This study also proved that You sent sea walls are very useful in a preventive sense in reducing the risks of erosion. This study also demonstrated how mapping outputs of shoreline changes could be helpful for coastal engineers, planners, and authorities in charge of managing coastal zones in Limay, Bataan, and other regions of the Philippines witn comparable geographic conditions. |
