General note ABSTRAC CT Title: Perceptions of Students on Learning English in Online and In-person Setups Author: Donabel G. Nicdao Adviser: Ma. Leilani V. Agillon This study aimed at investigating the perceptions of students on learning English in online and in-person setups. To achieve the objectives of the study, qualitative approach was used. The participants were fourth year students of the Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies who have experienced learning the English language in the in- person setup during their first year of college and then shifted to online setup in the next two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Survey questionnaire and a follow-up interview were used to collect the data. The findings revealed that the in-person setup was what the students mostly prefer in learning the English language because of many factors; they were more focused and active, and they could learn the English language effectively. On the other hand, there were some students who still preferred online setup due to some factors; they found less hassle and they could learn at their convenient time. Furthermore, majority of the students revealed that they could better enhance their English language skills in an in-person setup. All in all, online and in-person setups have advantages and disadvantages for the students.
