General note ABSTRACT Tongol, Ednuel Jay A., Balawag, Rejinald M., and Del Rosario, Kurt Gabriel Department of Computer Studies and Automation, College of Engineering and Computer Studies, Pampanga State Agricultural University, Magalang. Pampanga. April 2023. "ATTENDANCE MONITORING IN ONLINE MEETINGS PROCESSING USING OPTICAL CHARACTER THROUGH TEXT RECOGNITION". Adviser: Ms, Gemmarie M. Tapnio The study "Attendance Monitoring in Online Meetings through Text Processing using Optical Character Recognition" was presented to the Department of Computer Studies and Automation (DCSA). The researchers have demonstrated that attendance monitoring can be a time-consuming and laborious task, particularly in the context of online classes. The conventional mnethod of manual attendance monitoring involves the painstaking process of caling out each student's name and recording their attendance on an SO form. Consequently, the researchers have endeavored to develop a system that can expedite the attendance checking process, ultimately providing assistance to professors. The project aimed to address several challenges, which led the researchers to establish the following objectives: to provide the faculty of DCSA (Departrment of Computer Studies and Automation) with a system or tool that utilizes optical character recognition (0CR) technology to automate attendance monitoring for online meetings; to enhance the efficiency of attendance checking during online class meetings by scanning attendance photos and inputting the student list; lastly, to develop a system that utilizes text processing technology to generate a list of students present at the conference and automatically populate an ISO form with the necessary information. The researchers used the agile methodology for their development methodology, which includes stages such as planning, designing, development, testing, deploying, reviewing, and launching. The developed system offers significant benefits to the faculty of the Department of Computer Studies and Automation (DCSA). It effectively reduces the workload required for attendance checking and enables effortless generation of a list containing the names of students present during or after online classes. Importantly, the system operates independent of data or internet connectivity, ensuring its usability in various circumstances. The conclusions derived from the researchers' evaluation can be deemed successful based on the collected results from their research location, which yielded a grand mean of 3.60. This tool has the potential to greatly benefit professors in conducting their online meetings.
