General note | ABSTRACT Candelaria Sherilyn D. July 2022. Effects of Mycorrhizal Fungi on the Growth and Yield of Sweet Corn. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. Major in Crop Science. Pampanga State Agricultural University, Magalang, Pampanga. Adviser: Warlina M. Guzman, MSA The study was conducted from April to July in Pabanlag, Floridablanca, Pampanga. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The following treatments were: TI Recommended Rate based on Soil Analysis; T2 50% lower RR + 50% higher RR of Mycorrhiza fungi; T3 50% lower of RR + RR of Mycorrhiza fungi; and T4 RR based on Soil Analysis + RR of Mycorrhiza fungi. Based on the result of statistical analysis, the addition of mycorrhiza fungi significantly affected plant height (30, 60, and harvesting DAS), root biomass, and diameter of corm ears. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in the length of corn ears, the weight of husked ears, the weight of unhusked ears, and computed yield per hectare. Cost and return showed that RR of soil analysis+ RR of mycorrhizal fungi (T4) had the highest income of Php 208,248.353 and ROI % of 376.78%. In conclusion, applying mycorrhizal fungi can increase the plant height, root biomass, and diameter of corn ears. For recommendation, applying a recommended rate of soil analysis t recommended rate of mycorrhiza fungi on the sweet corn had the highest net income and investment return. Further studies and field trials to validate mycorrhiza fungi's effectiveness on sweet corn is also suggested. Lastly, similar studies must be conducted on the effect of mycorrhiza fungi and other sweet corn varieties to determine the other effect of mycorrhiza fungi. |
