Dimabuyu difficulties of the This study aimed to find out the speech. students in changing direct speech to indirect it sought to determine the profile of the Specifically, the difficulties of the students in changing respondents, direct to indirect speech in the written and oral test, the difference between the difficulties of the male and female respondents in the written and oral test and the difference between the difficulties of the Course 1, Course 2, and Course 3 in the written and oral test. To attain the aim of the study descriptive-inferential design was used. First, a written test was given to the respondents and asked them to change direct statement into indirect statement. Second, the researcher used recorder to record the answers of the respondents in the oral test. Mean, frequency and percentage, t-test independent mean and ANNOVA test for difference were used to analyze the data. Based on the findings of the study, 15 (50%) were males and 15 (50%) were females. Meanwhile, majority of the respondents had difficulty in changing tenses from simple present to simple past and changing pronoun me into her in the written test. On the other hand, all of the respondents had difficulty in changing tenses from present perfect to past perfect and majority of the students had difficulty in changing pronoun you into she in the oral test. Moreover, there is no significant difference between the difficulties of the male and female respondents in changing direct speech to indirect speech in the written and oral test. There is also no significant difference between the difficulties of the Course 1, Course 2 and Course 3 in changing direct to indirect speech in the written and oral test.
