The study was conducted for 60 days at Barangay Escaler, Magalang, Pampanga to evaluate the performance of crossbred New Zealand rabbits fed with different combinations of forage to concentrate ratio. A total of eighteen (18) three months old rabbits were used as experimental animals for comparison. Twelve female (12) rabbits and six (6) male rabbits to be specific. A two-factor factorial experiment in Randomized Complete Block Design was used in the study. The sexes of the rabbit served as the blocking factor of the study. Factor A was the different types of grass and Factor B was the grass to concentrate ratio. A1B1 was given 75% paragis and 25% concentrates, A1B2 50% paragis and 50% concentrates, and Al1B3 25% paragis and 75% concentrates. Treatment A2B1 received 75% para grass and 25% concentrates, A2B2 received 50% para grass and 50% concentrates, and A2B3 received 25% para grass and 75% concentrates. As to the type of grass, the para grass has a significantly (P < 0.05) greater influence on the final weight of the rabbit than the paragis. In addition, data showed significant (P < 0.05) differences among treatment means in terms of the type of grass. On the other hand, for roughage: concentrate, no significant (P > 0.05) differences were observed among treatment means. There is a significant (P < 0.05) interaction in the type of grass and roughage to concentrate ratio. 50:50 was the highest feed consumed and 75:25 was the lowest. A varied ratio of roughage to concentrate, on the other hand, revealed no significant effect on the feed conversion of the rabbits. The combination of 50% para grass and 50% concentrates shows optimal growth performance and weight gain.
