August 2022. "Complementary { eeard _ Downward LED ©." omtheGiiu: Romai - ettuc f SNAP Hydroponic Sct-ap" Adviser: Zagr. Emo S. Garman With an mcreasing demand for lettuce m the Philippines, farmers need to increase crop production by enhancing productivity and adopting methods such as urban farming. One of the prominent matensis found m an urban farming setup is the use of artificial hghteng such as kght-emeting codes (LEDs) LEDs are the best material to use as grow hights for urben farmung. The development of a typecal downward ight source into an upward and downward light source was echerved m tue stady it armed to optimized the growth performance of gomaime lettuce and sncrense yretd by acddeng an additonal upward light source underneath the crop. ta fabriceteng the technology. the core matenalis that were used are warm white LED atrvp. Digrtial Temperstare Humudsty Controller, and a 12V fan for good ventilation. There were tee geetments and ons control treatment m the study, each with four rephcebons. All qeetments heve uaderguns the hydroponics Kratky method with the use of Semple Nutneet Adtmen Program (SNAP) solution. The results showed that somsene lettuce height can be increased with the mcrease wm laght meconedty. Om the contrary, ths length of plants can also be increased with the Gecress: m light mtonnty, but they ave ehoisted m appearance. Meanwhile, the gpowth performance of romarne letmece w terms of total sumber of leaves, total root length, and weght followed the uune wend. They sacscased m correspondence to the increase in hight shonety As for te clecencel conmampnoce performance of T! & T2, T2 consumed a higher daly energy we of 0.356 k Wh compared to T1 of 0.164 kWh. In terme of cost, T2's cont was snore exponmve than T i's. As concluded, a can be mferred that the complimentary upwerd and downward LED hytang symouss were not viable fos romame lettuce growth and that sunlight = wll the beat source of ght for romame lettuce growth.
