| Formatted contents note | The main objective of the farm practice was to acquire additional knowledge and skills in the management of livestock particularly commercial - scale swine production. The student trainee learned all the management practices in the farm such as; heat detection, artificial insemination, assistance during farrowing, cutting of needle teeth, castration, prevention of anemia, tail docking, teeth clipping of needle teeth, weighing the piglets, and weaning. The student-trainee worked in the farm to learn all the processes, management practices, and operations inside the farm. Based on the gathered data, the comparison of the sow reproductive performance with the standard revealed that the litter index, average litter size stillbirth and mortality were rated "good". Lastly, the student trainee concluded that farm practice helped him in gaining experiences and how to perform management practices in swine commercial farm. |
