Formatted contents note Improper storing and handling of eggs has been linked to foodbome illness such as Salmoneliosis. This descriptive survey study determined the knowledge of egg vendors and egg consumers in San Roque, San Luis, Pampanga on Salmonellosis and their attitudes and practices in storing and handling eggs in relation to their profile. The study also proposed policy recommendations, and formulated an extension activity through IEC material development. A total of 378 respondents participated in the study and data were collected through online surveys using Google form from January to February 2022. Majority of the respondents were female with a monthly income ranging from Php 5,000 to Php 10,000 and are held high school level education. The age range of the consumerrespondents was 21-30 years old (40%) and 41-50 years old (33%) for the vendorrespondents. The vendor-respondents mostly sell eggs for 3 years and below. Moreover, the consumer-respondents belong in a household with three to six members who buy and eat eggs two to three times a week. Consumer-respondents demonstrated minimal knowledge, seldom attitude, and seldom practices in storing and handling of eggs in relation to Salmonellosis. Similarly, vendor-respondents revealed minimal knowledge, seldom attitude, and sometimes practices towards storing and handling of eggs in relation to Salmonellosis. The relationship between the profile and KAP of the respondents were analyzed using Kendall's tau-b and Chi-square. The attitude and sex of the vendorrespondents has a statistical value of x2(16) =27.10, p=0.04. Similarly, the relationship between vendors' attitude and monthly income has a statistical value of t=0.27, p-0.00. In addition, the statistical value of knowledge and age of the consumer-respondents is t=0.18, p=0.00; knowledge and highest educational attainment's statistical value is t=0.19, p=0.00; knowledge and monthly income (t=0.23, p=0.00); knowledge and household size (t~0.09, p=0.05); knowledge and buying of eggs (t=0.13, p=0.00); knowledge and eating of eggs (t=0.16, p=0.03). Meanwhile, for the relationship on knowledge on cases and symptoms (KCS) of the consumer-respondents with educational attainment, it has a statistical value of 0.11, p=0.03. The relationship between the practices of consumer-respondents and their monthly income has a statistical value of t=0.10, p=0.02; while the relationship between the practices and buying of eggs shows t=0.10, p=0.01. Isolation of Salmonella from eggs and also include the knowledge, attitude, and practices on proper storing and handling of eggs of other food-handlers such as chefs and caterers may be considered by the future researchers, Keywords: Attitude, consumers, eggs, handling, knowledge, practices, Salmonella, storing, vendors.
