Formatted contents note Water is essential for the survival of the majority of plants. Water management is one of the most critical factors that dictate the harvest of crops. But too much water would be catastrophic for most plants. It is not overselling to say that waterlogging is as huge of a problem as drought due to the increasing unpredictability of the weather. Using variety with better waterlogging tolerance is one option to tackle this problem. The objective of this study is to learn how different varieties of com perform when exposed to waterlogging at the early stages. Three com varieties were subjected to three and six days of waterlogging conditions to see how well each variety reacted. This study used Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) as the experimental design with three replications. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Least Significant Difference (LSD) was used in analyzing the data. The data shows that amongst the three varieties of corn, Pioneer P3585YHR has the best recovery performance from waterlogging stress in terms of the number of leaves, followed by the Advanta Super 999 and then the Syngenta NK6414. Advanta Super 999 has recorded the best recovery per plant height, followed by Pioneer P3585YHR and then the Syngenta NK6414. Regarding root density and total biomass, Advanta Super 999 and Pioneer P3585YHR have recorded a significantly higher data than Syngenta NK6414. While in survival rate, Pioneer P3585 YHR has the numerically highest data, followed by the Advanta Super 999 and then the Syngenta NK 6414. The results of this study posit that Advanta Super 999 and Pioneer P3585 YHR are the better choices out of the three varieties used in this study; when planting com in areas that will expect a tremendous amount of rain, that would present an increased chance of waterlogging to occur.
