Formatted contents note The study aimed to help the students and the teachers avoid the barriers inside the classroom to interact effectively by determining the advantages and disadvantages of the English-only policy as a classroom policy in the classes of the BSED major in English in a state university in Pampanga. To accomplish this, the researcher conducted online surveys and interviews with student respondents. An online survey and interview were conducted with fifteen out of forty one student respondents voluntarily agreed to participate. Three English teachers who teach major courses volunteered to participate in the interview via Zoom to learn about the classroom implementation of the Englishonly policy. Based on the results of the online interview with the English instructors, the state university has no language policy concerning the English-only policy. However, the College of Education English instructors said they used the English-only policy in the classroom due to the bilingual education policy. The results of the online survey and interview with students show that the English-only policy helps them increase their fluency and competency in English. In addition, the data reveal that the respondents' English language skills (speaking and listening), particularly speaking skills, significantly enhanced. The English-only policy also affects respondents' motivation and study habits due to intercultural anxiety inside the classroom. Although the English-only policy has its advantages and disadvantages, it has a good impact on students' study habits and motivation because the respondents were eager to learn as they will soon become English instructors. According to the result of spatial analysis, the total land area inhabited by the informal settlers was 112,149 sq. meters or 11.2 hectares with the corresponding mean population density of 114,032 per sq. kilometer and mean household density of 4.51. Among the 343 households, the study reveals that slum households' informality goes beyond the areas they live into their demographic profile, socioeconomic status, location, occupations, and access to essential services. The researcher highly encourages the utility of maps made for the benefit of urban planning, social welfare development, and other humanitarian activities. Lastly, the researcher also suggests considering the demands of the informal settlers when it comes to the provision of assistance for the betterment of their living conditions. Keywords: informal settlements, Spatial analysis, Status assessment.
