505 0# - FORMATTED CONTENTS NOTE
Formatted contents note This study profiled samples sent for rabies examination in terms ofthe following parameters: species, breed, sex, and vaccination statusof the animal; type of ownership, contact withanimals, pet management;municipality of source(spatial), and month of submission (temporal); and associate rabiesoccurrenceto said parameters. The data requested from Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory Region III was reviewed, organized and analyzed. Spatial and temporal distribution was determined by the number of submitted samples and the number of positive samples per municipalityand permonth, respectively. A total of 484 head and whole carcass samples, and 86 samples that tested positive for rabies were included in the study. The city/municipalities with the highest number of positive cases were Angeles City (19 or 51.4%) followed by Mexico (10 or 50%) and Floridablanca (9 or 40.9%).The highest incidence of positive cases wasobserved in November (40 or 8.20%) followed by January, March and July(10 or 2.10%), and February (9 or 1.90%). Chi-square correlation analysis revealedhighly significant association between rabies occurrence and the spatial and temporal distribution. Binary logistic regressiontest revealed that the association between the occurrence of rabies and species, breed, type of ownership, contact with animals, and pet management were highly significant;however, the association between the occurrence of rabies and sex, and vaccination status was found to be statistically not significant.
