Formatted contents note ROY ALLEN P. MENDOZA, Department of Geodetic Engineering, College of Engineering and Computer Studies, Pampanga State Agricultural University, June 2022, 'A GIS-BASED APPROACH TO GENERATE THE SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION MAP OF CARBON FOOTPRINT FROM ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION IN CITY OF MABALACAT, PAMPANGA". Adviser: GENESIS A. CASINO, GE Increasing global demand for household, commercial, and industrial electricity is a major contributor to rising COz emissions. This study evaluates Mabalacat, Pampanga's carbon footprint in residential, commercial, industrial, public buildings, and lighting during Pre-Lockdown, Lockdown, and Alert Level Period. This non-experimental quantitative study used correlational research design. In order to estimate carbon footprint in the City of Mabalacat, Pampanga, this study relied on an online ISO-certified carbon footprint calculator and to create a spatial distribution map of the city of Mabalacat, Pampanga's carbon footprint at pre-lockdown, lockdown, and alert levels in 2020 and 2022, Quantum GIS (QGIS) was utilized. As per the results of the study, the total carbon footprint was determined to be 18,059 mtCOze in the pre-lockdown, 20,149 mtCOze during the lockdown, and 23,418 mtCOze in the alert level period. Moreover, during prelockdown and lockdown, southern and central areas contribute more to Mabalacat, Pampanga's carbon footprint while in the alert level period, southern, central, and eastern sectors contribute more. Thus, the data shows that energy consumption increases the carbon footprint. It is highly recommended for future researchers to determine the carbon footprint of all the barangays in Mabalacat, Pampanga, including the barangays that were delimited to this study namely, Brgy. Calumpang, Brgy. Marcos Village, and Brgy. Macapagal Village. It is also highly recommended to raise awareness to the community regarding energy saving and a focused action plan that is responsive to the behavioral changes needed towards energy efficiency. Lastly, using an alternative source of energy for electricity production, particularly renewable energy, instead of coal buming to lessen the carbon dioxide that is being accumulated in the atmosphere and causes climate change is recommended. Keywords: CO2 emissions, Carbon footprint, Pre-Lockdown, Lockdown, Alert Level.
