Formatted contents note | The study was conducted from April to August 2021 at the Bondoc Farm Mexico, Pampanga. This study aimed to identify and locate good mother trees of indigenous forest tree species in Central Luzon, specifically within Bondoc Farm located at Brey. Panipuan, Mexico, Pampanga using the standard selection criteria (height, diameter at breast height, stem straightness, forking/stem branching, stem circularity, and the tree health by assesing the phenotypic traits of each individual trees. A total of 202 indigenous trees were assessed that belonged to seven (7) families and represented by nine (9) species. Among the species assessed, Bagras (Eucalyptus deplugata Blume) dominates by 59% (119 trees), Dita (Alstonia scholaris (Linn.) Br.) with 22% (44 trees), while 10% (21 trees) were Narra (Prerocarpus indicus). There were other other species assessed were such as Pagsahingin (Canarium luzonicum), Agoho (Casuarina equisetifolia Linn.), Talisay (Terminalia catappa L.), Calumpit (Terminalia microcarpa Decne.), Duhat (Syzygium cumini (L.) Skeels.) and Molave (Vitex parviflora Juss.) The result revealed that there were total of 124 mother trees out of the seven (7) indigenous tree species inside Bondoc Farm. Among the species assessed, Bagrass has the most number of identified good mother trees with 98 or 48.5%. Meanwhile, a total of 14 (6.9%) good mother trees of Dita were indentified. Pagsahingin, Kalumpit and Narra have three (3) good mother trees each. Two (2) good mother trees of Talisay were identified. In addition, the lone Agoho tree assessed was able to pass the selection critena and considered as a good mother tree. |
