505 0# - FORMATTED CONTENTS NOTE
Formatted contents note This study aimed to develop and validate a Self-Learning Module (SLM) in Earth and Life Science. Purposive sampling technique was employed in determining the two sets of validators for the essential learning competencies and the developed SLM. Content validation of the essential learning competencies was done by the first set of experts using Lawshe's content validity formula. The second set of Science experts used a validation tool to evaluate the developed SLM in Earth and Life Science in terms of a) content, b) design/format, and c) pedagogical factor. To analyze the data, frequency count was used. Out of 67 learning competencies in Earth and Life Science, 25 learning competencies were identified as essential by the ten Subject matter experts. Each lesson of the module consisted of the following: a) introduction, b) learning objective/s, c) pre-assessment, d) lesson proper, e) activities, f) post-assessment, g) answer key, and h) references. The SLM was developed by following the phases of module development. The researcher improved the SLM following the comments and suggestions of the five Science experts. Results revealed that the developed SLM in Earth and Life Science satisfied all the criteria in terms of a) content, b) design/format, and pedagogical factor. Therefore, the developed and validated SLM in Earth and Life Science is generally commendable and can facilitate more effective instruction in concretizing abstract concepts of the subject and maximizing the learners' distance-learning experience. ft can also be used as a learning material) and reference in teaching Earth and Life Science for senior high school! Students. Keywords: Earth and Life Science, Lawshe, learning competencies, Self-Learning Module.
