Formatted contents note | The study determined the occurrence of Salmonella spp. in chickens of Central Luzon. Records of submitted samples to Regional Animal Diseases Diagnostic Laboratory III in 2019 were reviewed and analyzed in this study. Data on diagnostic results, month of submission, and municipality were subjected to descriptive statistics and Chi-square test. Results showed positive occurrence of Salmonella spp. in 216 (19.62%) of the 1106 total samples submitted. February with 54 (29.19%) had highest positive cases while November with 3 (10%) had the least positive cases. Most positive samples came from Bulacan (64 or 42.67%); the provinces with the least positive cases were Zambales with 5 (16.67%), and Nueva Ecija with 35 (9.72%) had the lowest occurrence although it recorded the highest number of samples (360) submitted. The occurrence of Salmonella spp. Showed significant association with time and place of occurrence (p-value of <0.05) that may be attributed to temperature, biosecurity level of the farms, among other factors to reduce disease occurrence at any time and province in Central Luzon. |
