General note | This study was conducted to determine the presence of Fasciola gigantica from buffaloes in Magalang, Mabalacat City and Porac. Forty-five blood samples were collected from the jugular, ear and tail veins of buffaloes regardless of age and sex. Collected blood samples were stored in a cooler with a coolant and processed at the Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory and Nutraceutical Research Laboratory using a reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification test kit procedure. F. gigantica infection was identified from all the sample sites. The highesy occurence was determined in Magalang at 100% followed by Porac and Mabalacat at 80% and 73.33%, respectively. Data gathered were statistically analyzed using Pearson Chi-Square to determine the association of the parameters with the presence of F. gigantica. Results showed no significant association between the animal profile and acces to water, however, statistically significant association was noted between the deworming program and feeding management with the occurrence of the parasite. |
