500 ## - GENERAL NOTE
General note The performance of tomato applied with different levels of organic fertilizer made from paper sludge was evaluated on January to May, 2020 at the PSAU-ALIAS R & D Center, Pampanga State agricultural University, Magalang, Pampanga. The field lay-out followed the procedures in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications with the following treatments: T1 - No fertilizer applied (Control), T2 - Recommended rate of Organic Fertilizer (3000 kgs per hectare or 6 kgs per plot of 20 sq. m.), T3 - Recommended rate of Organic Fertilizer (3000 kgs x l.5 = 4500 kgs per hectare 9 kgs per plot of 20 sq. m.), T4 - 2.0 recommended rate of Organic Fertilizer (3000 kgs x 2.0 = 6000 kgs per hectare or 12 kgs per plot of 20 sq. m.), and T5 - 18.181 kg equivalent weight of the test product based on the STK Nitrogen (N) recommendation (20 sq. m.). Results revealed the following: The plant height significantly affected by organic fertilizer application where those treated with 4500 kg/ha, 6000 kg/ha and 18,181 khha, respectively produced the tallest plants versus those from the untreated and even those received 3000kg/ha. The size of fruits of tomato applied with different levels of organic fertilizer made from paper sludge did not differ significantly. The number of marketable fruits per plant and non-marketable fruits per hectare of tomato applied with organic fertilizer made from paper sludge did not produced significantly difference. The number of non-marketable fruits per plant and the marketable fruits per hectare of tomato applied with organic fertilizer made from paper sludge were found remarkably different. The highest net income (NI) was recorded from those plants applied with 6000 kg/ha with PHP738,000 while the highest return on investment (ROI) with 251% was recorded from 3000 kg/ha treated plants and the lowest belongs to the unfertilized plants with only 53%.
