500 ## - GENERAL NOTE
General note The farm practice was conducted at Golden Hog Farm located at 7034 Legaspi Street, Duquit, Mabalacat, Pampanga from April 14 to May 26, 2019. The main objective of the farm practice was to acquire additional knowledge and skills in the management of livestock particularly commercial - scale swine production. The student trainee concluded that farm practice was a big help in gaining experience on how to perform the actual practices in operating/managing a swine farm. Also, some problems were encountered inside the farm, primarily, the lack of biosecurity which is very significant in swine farming. The trainee suggests that the owner should strictly implement biosecurity measures for the benefit of the farm and its workers. However, based on the gathered data, the comparison of the sow reproductive performance with the standard revealed that litter index, stillbirth and mortality were rated "good", while average litter size was rated "average". Lastly, the student trainee evaluated the Cost and Return Analysis of the farm within a month. The feed ingredients accounted 62.77% from the estimated total cost of the farm and had a 31.80% Return of Investment (ROI), which was acceptable.
